Sometimes we never get around to pampering ourselves after a long day of work. I know that even I myself find it easier to just shower and climb into bed, without really relaxing and rejuvenating myself.
But it is very important to prepare the body for bed, and also take the time to take care of your body. I know physically and mentally, I am more calm and serene when I take the extra time to pamper myself the evening before.
So here are some tips to help you create a time for relaxation en rejuvenation, that I try to use myself, though I will admit, that even I need to remind myself to slow down and really unwind in the evenings.
- Unplug. Take the evening away from the screen or television. This will help you relax and also prepare you for bed. Numerous studies have shown that the blue light emitted from computers, phones, and televisions, can interfere with sleep, so unplugging from them hours before bed will help you get the optimal sleep.
- have some tea: The act of making tea, then actually sitting down and enjoying it, instantly relaxes me, and prepares me for bed.
- elegant bath time. To take an elegant relaxing evening even further, have an elegant bath. Surround your bathtub with lovely scented candles. Pour the best bath bombs, bubbles, or bath salts in the water, and just simply allow the atmosphere relax and refresh you.
- relaxful reading. There is nothing more relaxing or refreshing than snuggling up with a good book. And this will help you get the rest and sleep we all need.
I hope these tips will help you become more relaxed in the evenings, and take the time every once and a while and treat yourself. We all work hard, so why not reward ourselves with an evening to ourselves?
Have a happy Monday,
