Keep Pushing Through

Welcome back dear readers,

In today’s post, I am going to be talking about pushing though difficulty.  I know for myself, as I am working full time and studying part-time, sometimes it can feel overwhelming to keep going and get everything done that you need to do and want to do.  During these times it is so tempting to just give up and believe that you are not cut out to fulfill your dreams.

If you are thinking of quitting, and that life is too overwhelming, then this is the post for you.  So here are some helpful tips and some encouragement to keep chasing your dreams. Yes, it is called chasing for a reason,  you have to literally run to keep up with them, but the rewards you get when you catch them are priceless, and you will always treasure them.01b4888ca66e105d98e947d5d844e44435830390fb

  1.  Look at your goals / or reevaluate them. Sometimes we set goals that are unrealistic. Life happens. The day can go by and nothing on your dream to-do list is done.  If this is happening, then it is time to really go through your goals and reevaluate them and try to set more realistic goals.  I know when I was in college, I set way too many goals that I couldn’t achieve. My academic coach had to keep reminding me to set S.M.A.R.T goals. It is still hard to set on point realistic goals, but it is much easier now. So try for yourself to set Specific, Manageable, attainable, realistic, time-bound goals.

2. Set three small goals towards your dream. This might be just writing a one page draft of your novel, shooting one picture for your photography, or filming for 20 minutes, etc,  it can be anything. If you consistently do this, you will not only see results, but also develop a habit of setting aside time to do what you dream to do. Let’s face it, if we are doing what we feel we want to do, even for 20 minutes or an hour, it motivates us to keep going and making that dream a reality.

3. Congratulate yourself for achieving your small goals. Take a day off and spend it with family or friends. Have a movie night or spa night. Do anything that will consistently motivate yourself to do achieve the next goal and continually improving your personal best. My personal favorite way to congratulate myself is to have a movie night and watch other people who have achieved their goals such as Beatrice Potter, Jo in Little women, Anne of Green Gables, etc. Watching inspirational films recharges me and makes me excited for what I can achieve next.

4. Be Kind to Yourself.  Someone that gets everything done every single day does not exist. We are all human. Sometimes a relaxing day off to really think, plan, and meditate what you want is better than trying to constantly push out content when you are mentally and physically drained. I know for myself, I tried to push out blog posts right before work, but that wasn’t the best idea. So I let myself plan and think about what I am going to do next while I am at work ( I am a retail worker, so I have a lot of time to think!;) ), then draft it and publish it when I am off work.  So make sure you are taking care of yourself.  Eat well, exercise, and sleep well. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind!

I hope these tips help you as they helped me and I will see you soon,

Have a Blessed Tuesday,

Alyssa
