Taking Opportunities

We all know it is tough sometimes to chase your dreams. We all want to be successful and independent, but there are times when we want to throw in the towel. We may not have enough time, juggling three jobs with children, or not know how to be goal-oriented and driven.
But striving for something should be worth it. Having a dream so powerful should allow us to strive even when life get tough. In fact, your dream doesn’t include some obstacles then it really isn’t a dream at all.
So take those opportunities to see your dream come true. It is nerve wracking and wonderful all at the same time. For myself, I have always wanted to do something in music and writing. As you know I write and manage this website among two others. Yes it is tough. Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth it to blog. But I do it anyway, knowing that practice makes perfect, and the more I write the better I will be. Also, I have engaged in more musical opportunities in the last year, such as joining a choir, and getting back in playing the piano. My dream isn’t accomplished, but doing these things at least puts my dream in perspective and I have motivation to continue what I am doing while trying to improve myself. So are you ready to take those opportunities to get to towards your dreams? Here are five tips to get you started today.

1. Learn

Always take the opportunity to learn more about your passion and interests. This will not only help you to be more credible and land a job in your interest, it will help you as well take pride in what you do.

2. Improve

Just as you learn about your passions and interest, take the time to really improve on them. You never know when a job opportunity or project will arise and you will need those skills. For example, if you want a job as a music teacher, find ways to improve your music theory and music skills. Maybe even invest time into an online class with certification, which would look good on a resume.

3. Find

Always find ways to be able to use your passion. If you enjoy writing, find ways to help others with your writing, as in writing blog posts, freelancing, or even tutoring. This way you can earn some money, get some more experience, and also do what you enjoy.

4. Implement

As with in the last tip, find ways to implement your passion into your daily life. Maybe you don’t have your dream job yet, but find a way to have an hour or two everyday to work on your passion. This will help your motivation to find more ways to find opportunities, as well as make what you love doing a habit for both rest and education.

5. Reflect

And lastly, the last tip is to reflect on what your passion is and how you will get to where you want to go. It is easy to think about what you love doing, but getting on the road to get there can be confusing, draining, and overwhelming. So take time to reflect on where you want to go, what steps you need to take to get there, who you need to contact, and what resources you need to tap into to get the opportunities you need for your dream job.

I hope these tips will be helpful to you, and if you have any more suggestions, leave them in the comments.

Have a blessed day,

Alyssa
