What I am into Lately

Hello, I thought I would share what I have been enjoying lately during the quarantine. So enjoy!

Baking

I love baking. It is something that I love to do when I want to relax. Lately I have been trying new recipes for scones, and cookies, and cake. Since oranges are in season, we have been making a lot of orange pound cake, orange scones, and orange sugar cookies.

My favorite from the three are the orange scones. Scones are my all time favorite.

Books

I have been reading a lot of books lately. I sometimes get stuck on a topic of interest and read every single book available on the subject. These days I am very much into productivity and time management. I cannot boast that I have a perfect routine or that I manage my time as well as I could. But I am always trying to find ways to make myself more efficient. We can always improve.

Recently, I have been reading, Indistractable, by Nir Eyal, and I have been learning so much behind why we get distracted and how to overcome those distractions. Another book that I have been enjoying reading is, The Basket of Flowers, by Christoph von Schmid. I just love how even with so much sorrow and trial, young Marry is able to still have faith. This book is available to read on internet archive for free.

Writing

I have been writing a lot lately. I am determined to use the time that I have wisely. As I have several writing projects, my goal is to complete both of them by the end of this month.

Websites and Video: Girl Defined Ministries and Ligonier Ministries

If you are in your early, middle, or late twenties, then Girl Defined Ministries is perfect for you. These two women really know how to deliver powerful messages of biblical womanhood.

I have been watching their videos for a while. There is something so encouraging in knowing that we do not go through things alone. That someone else has been in your place, and knows the desperation and yearning of a young woman’s heart. As I do want to have a family one day, these videos serve as a guide for what I need to

While I have heard about Ligonier and read some of their table talk magazines, I haven’t been on their website much in the past. However, I just discovered this amazing resource , which has so much information on how to learn, study, and grow in your Christian life. If you are looking to further your faith or are brand new to the faith, then this is a great website for you to study and gain more knowledge of the holiness of God.

Online Courses: Alison Courses

I have been loving taking some online courses on Alison.com. These courses are completely free. I always believe that there is always something that you can learn. Learning is lifelong. I certainly am not done learning. I am learning something new every single day. Right now I am taking a diploma course in photography, Microsoft Excel, and Social Media.

Music

I love listening to music. Music has been my passion ever since I was a little girl. I have been enjoying listening to Agnus Dei album, by the Choir of New College, Oxford. My favorite song, has to be the title song, Agnus Dei, but Samuel Barber. It has an unearthly quality to it.

I have also been revisiting some of my old favorites such as, Garden of Beauty, by the Atlanta Boy Choir and Believe, by Celtic women.

Listening to music is a great way to relieve stress as it can help lift the mood. I know when I put on music, my mood becomes lighter and brighter, and I am able to focus more.

Also, if you are not listening to my quarantine playlist, “Arise my Soul” I encourage you to do so.

Sewing

I have recently been getting the hang of my sewing machine. I have started to make some masks for myself and family members. I also hope to contribute to some local places as well. It gives me a good distraction to everything that is going on. If I can keep my hands and mind busy, then I don’t get too depressed.

I hope you enjoyed what I have been up to lately. Let me know in the comments what is your favorite thing to do in the quarantine. Mine is having the whole day to learn and spend time with family.

Always remember, that this is a unique time. Don’t feel like you have to do anything. Use this time to reflect on your life, rest well, and remember that this too shall pass.

Have a great week,

Alyssa
