Getting Back into Art

Hello again,painting-1081808_1920

I am taking a break of going through my things and getting down to 100 items, and will focus this post on my favorite hobby, art.

I have loved drawing, painting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting ever since I was little.  Perhaps I was more drawn to sewing through. I loved trying to make clothes for my dolls and would spend hours trying to get a right pattern.  This would occupy me for hours. As for knitting and crocheting, I had a few lessons, but am mostly self-taught. I am less experienced with these art forms as  I don’t know how to make anything out of them except for squares and rectangle pieces of work. In fact, the only thing I can do pretty well with knitting is making scarves.

As for drawing and painting, I have been always drawing, as that is my favorite activity when I am stressed or bored, as it gives me something to unleash my creativity and give me more ideas to write. For painting, I had a brief instruction to water color painting in art class, but stopped  taking the class when I was fourteen.

So, since I have been wanting to paint and get back into doing creative activities, I finally was able to do some watercolor pictures on Sunday.  I almost didn’t paint, as I was super tired, but I am glad I did.

I found a video tutorial on Youtube, and got started. Now, it wasn’t the prettiest picture. I have a lot to learn about how to wet the picture so that the watercolor paint is more even and not blotchy. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to painting again next Sunday.

So, I will encourage you to try to do something you have always wanted to do, but never have the time for. Make the time to do it. And who knows, you might love it so much that you cannot wait to do it again.

Have a great day,

Alyssa
